The microwave sensor is an active detector. It emits microwave radiation (of the order of several GHz). It uses the Doppler effect, i.e. the change in the frequency of the wave depending on the speed of movement of the object. The microwave sensor detects the movement of each body (regardless of its temperature) from which the radiation sent is reflected. Importantly, microwave radiation can penetrate through thin obstacles.
